Playing Golf In Thailand
Some of the worlds most famous golfer course designers have created many of the courses here including Nick Faldo, Arnold Palmer, Jack Nicklaus, Greg Norman, Gary Player and the great Seve Ballesteros. The championship courses in Thailand compare with the very best anywhere else in the world and are kept in superb condition throughout the year (yes even in the rainy season!) and are great to play on at any time, which is probably why so many experienced golfers return year after year to play. Pattaya is ideally located just one and a half hours drive south of Bangkok, in Chonburi province, where you will find around 30 courses within a 50 minute drive of the beaches of Pattaya and Jomtien. With so many courses to choose from you will find that it is easy to get a game and the prices are generally a whole lot cheaper than you are used to paying back in your own country, please note it is usual to hire a cart and caddie as well for your games. It is a hard to dispute fact that hardly any other beach resort in the world can offer so many courses of such a high standard at reasonable prices and all within such a small radius. For the fervent golf enthusiast the Jomtien Golf Society based at the Siam Cats Bar here in Soi 5 Immigration, just 25m away from the Pattaya Jomtien Property office, meet every Monday, Wednesday and Friday to play competitive golf and welcome all players, including ladies, who either have an I.P.G.C or a current handicap certificate from their home country. The competition fee for each game vary between 150 and 250 Baht according to the format run. A two divisional Stableford competition with prizes for the 1st-3 in each division, nearest the pin on all par threes for both divisions. All tee times are 10.00am unless specified on the monthly schedule on the board located in Siam Cats Bar, players normally leave Siam Cats Bar between 8.30am and 9.00am according to which course is being played. Just drop into our office or give us a call and we’ll be more than happy to put you in contact with Glyn the Society secretary who will give you more information. The following is information for most of the golf courses in the area and prices quoted are for members guests and include green fee, caddie and cart unless stated.
